Baking Soda	1 tsp.
Brown Sugar (firm pack)	1/2 CUP
Chocolate Kisses 	1/2 lb.
Egg	1
Flour	1 1/3 CUPS
Milk	2 TBSP.
Peanut Butter	1/2 cup
Salt	1/2 tsp.
Shortening	1/2 cup
Sugar	1/2 CUP
Vanilla	1 tsp.

Lightly spoon flour into measuring cup, level off.  Combine rest of 
ingredients except kisses in a large bowl, mix at low speed until a 
dough forms.

 Shape dough into balls, using a rounded tesp. of dough.  Roll balls in 
additional sugar. Place on ungreased  cookie sheet.  Bake at 375* for 10 
to 12 min. until golden brown.

 Remove from oven.  Top each hot cookie immediately with a candy 
kiss, pressing down so cookie cracks around edge.  Yields about 48 
cookies.
